ABOUT TIM
Tim Lowry
Tim is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, and member of the Australian Psychological Society and Australian Clinical Psychology Association. He is a Fellow of the APS Colleges of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, and sits on both the Queensland state branch and national committees of the College of Forensic Psychologists.
Tim has substantial experience in clinical assessment and treatment, having worked across both government mental health and private psychology practice settings since 2002. Tim has substantial experience working with those with major mental disorders, histories of trauma, addictions (including gambling), and other psychological and interpersonal issues. Tim often works with individuals with complex presentations, including those with co-occuring mental and physcal health issues, and with individuals with cognitive and intellectual impairments.
As a Forensic Psychologist, Tim has substantial experience working with individuals engaging in offending and problematic behaviours, with over a decade working in the QLD Forensic Mental Health Service, QLD Health. Tim has completed training in a range of specialised assessment tools, and provides comprehensive forensic and risk assessments for physical violence/aggression, problematic and violent sexual behaviour, stalking, fire-setting, threats, and child abuse and family/domestic violence. Tim has completed risk assessment reports for government correctional, parole, and child safety services, as well as pre-sentence and psychological reports for court. Tim provides individualised treatments addressing offending and problem behaviours, drawing on evidence-based intervention frameworks, and frequently collaborates with other professionals and service providers.
Tim holds the degrees of Master of Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Queensland, Master of Forensic Mental Health (Griffith University), and Master of Public Health (University of Newcastle). He has completed further advanced training in a range of therapeutic modalities and for specific populations. He provides supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals.
