ABOUT MARISSA
Marissa Piat
Marissa is a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years of experience undertaking forensic and clinical work within correctional and private practice settings. Holding a Masters degree in Forensic Mental Health, a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in psychology) she has developed a robust skill set in offender rehabilitation, risk assessment, and the management of high-risk individuals. Marissa is also a board accredited supervisor for provisionally registered Psychologists undertaking supervised practice.
Marissa delivers targeted psychological interventions, engages in offence-specific treatment, and provides clinical advice and risk assessments for individuals referred under Mental Health Care Plans and pre-sentence evaluations. Previously, she held leadership positions within various Queensland Correctional Services locations, whereby she managed offender development programs specific to the needs of clients and applied trauma-informed approaches in both individual intervention and directed staff development. Additionally, Marissa has extensive experience working with individuals convicted of sexual offences, including overseeing intensive offender management in custody and the community, providing specialised assessments and delivery of psychological intervention within correctional settings.
With a background in both the clinical and strategic aspects of forensic psychology, Marissa is committed to advancing mental health outcomes through evidence-based practices, inter-agency collaboration, and professional training for staff across Queensland’s correctional facilities.
